She busted me this morning but came back this evening and didn't circle around down wind like she did this morning. Perfect shot, ran 15 yards and then expired. So nice to feel those shakes again, and nice to have one on the ground on my Dad and I's first hunt together. He didn't have much luck but we've got ALL season! Woo Hoooo!
Thanks guys! This is the same doe that busted me yesterday morning, as well as at least 2x a season for the last 2 seasons. She has a scar on her left shoulder so i'm absolutely sure it is her. I know my woods will be a whole lot quieter with her gone! She came in and sat up on this ridge for 20-30 minutes pacing back and forth and trying to catch my wind, and then slowly came down the ridge to the creek bed. She stood there doing the same thing pacing back and forth lifting her nose up trying to smell me. She knew I was there but just not sure where. She finally stepped out from behind a tree after I was at full draw for what seemed like an eternity. I released, entered just under the shoulder and you know what that means! She just kind of stumbled off pumping blood and finally dropped at about 15 yards from the spot I shot her. I was going to take a picture with my bow and a box of Cheez-Its lol.
Thanks to scouting with trail cams I had them patterned at 730am, 330pm, and 530pm. I got her at 530. You'd think the smell of death around would keep the deer out but there was a group of 5 more that came in this morning but never gve me a shot opportunity.
