So it's a warm, windy October 1st morning here in Illinois. Anyone else out there NOT hunting today? I could have gone out but chose to work instead. Conditions aren't ideal for the stands I want to hunt and rather than burn up vacation time and my spots early I'm going to wait it out. As they say, all good things to those who wait (or so I tell myself). Anyone else enjoying the comfort of a desk chair instead of a treestand this morning?

im here at work sadly. even worse i probably wont get any deer hunting done this year at all...but there is always turkey in the spring!
21st year of bowhunting - first time I won't make it out on the opener...but my 2nd grade flag football team I coach has final game tonight and looking to end season undefeated...so still a great day!...back to game planning

Sitting in class today. No hunting until this weekend when the cold front comes in. They are talking a high of 42 on Saturday! On the contrary, today's high is supposed to be 84.
I'm missing the Illinois opener. I probably won't get to Illinois until November. That will make getting my earn-a-buck doe really tough. I will go out after chukar and rabbits today. 55 degrees for a High on Saturday in Iowa. Only a 20% chance of rain. I know it's going to be a strong cold front. I just don't know when it's supposed to actually hit Iowa on Saturday. I'm prepared to sit all day. I've never done that in October before.

cant get out this morning. The wife works this whole week, and im on afternoons at my job. So its Mr. Mom for me until Saturday. Its going to be pretty warm around here all week anyway. Come on Saturday morning.
What, Todd makes you burn vacation to hunt? Quite the plantation he runs up there in Algonquin. Anyway, I'll be in the woods either Saturday afternoon or Sunday AM, depending on the cold front. Hate to miss opening day but I also hate hunting when it's hot. Between the mosquitos, scent caused by sweating, etc it's rarely worth it.

Office chair captain today, but season started on the Sept 15th and I've already had 3 sits. I did some calculations and determined I have 9.5 days of vacation to burn before the end of the year!
