I shot the big 9 pointer but I didnt see where it hit him. Got down looked at the arrow and it had somewhat dark red blood on it, but when I started tracking the blood trail is bright red blood. there was a lot of blood to follow at first then it just turned to drops. I waited 45 minutes before tracking but as I was tracking I had a der snort at me and he didnt sound that good so I am assuming it was him so I backed out. please look at the signs and tell what u would do. I will not be able to look after 6:30 am cause of work. I followed trail for about 75 yrds, here are some pics of arrow and blood trail blood trail is really lighter.

I would get out there after work and look in the daylight tomorrow! Could be a muscle hit. They tend to bleed quite hard at first then clot quickly.

there was white and gray hair on the arrow. I was thinking maybe hit 1 lung, my stand is about 24 ft in the tree and he was about 15yrds and my first pin is set at 20yrds so I was thinking I might of hit high but with the white hair u may be right.

Grab as many buddies as you can muster and put all those eyes to work. You might have hit some liver, which is consistent with the white hair.

Looking at the blood and the color of the arrow I would say its a Liver hit. Could take 3 hours to pass or could take 15 mins. You just never know with those types of hits. Get back at it HARD tomorrow. No reason not too. You owe it to the deer to do everything you can. I would say its a good chance you have a dead deer. Did he give a big old donkey kick when you hit him?

liver is not bright red...usually darker, but you never know the bright red might be from muscle on one side, liver on the other.
However it looks to me that the blood in your pics is darkish to me. Maybe that's just the pic quality. Good luck tomorrow.

well my opinion is this: You look like you got good blood on the arrow and for the trail...you have gray(higher up) and white(belly) hair so arrow seems to have passed through maybe a little low but may not be bad with the downward angle so likely hit vitals with a passthru. Only thing I question is how was he standing? Broadside? Quartering away or from? If was a severe quartering shot you may have the mix of gray and white hairs from the brisket and under foreleg area which could be a little far forward and never going through vitals at all(just under skin and through muscle). Also what kind of reaction did you get?...just turn and run, or did he hunch up and even maybe do a little hop and kick in place before bolting?
