I went out and bought a pack on friday. Went home and shot one it did not fly like my field point did. i was a like shock until i ran my bow threw paper again and found it was out a tune. long story short that bow is now hanging up and i went to my 3-d bow. They fly the same as field tips. i'm shooting Hoyt Aplha Elite at 68.5# at 29.25 draw with a 416 gr arrow. I shot this doe at 10 yards from a ground blind. i found my arrow 10 yards behind stuck in the ground 10 in. I shot to far forward. It did go threw both shoulders and caught front of the lungs. She ran 70 yards a fell over. They head was still in great shape. The blood trail was a little different. was not a big spary but it looked like you poured it out of a can. It was 4 inches wide in a line. My review on the head is this penetration= great head durability= excellent blood trail = great overall the head worked great. I will like to see what will happen if a deer is hit back towards the guts. This is just what i think. i'm no expert but shot a few deer. I would recommend it as a broadhead. Here are some pics.
Awesome knowledge thanks! I looked at getting a pack this weekend but told myself they were to new and to stick with what I got.
Nice review. I was wondering if those are legal to shoot here in oregon. We can't have anything mechanical, which those arent, but they also cant be barbed. Not sure where the toxics fall when it comes to that.
I am glad someone has had good luck with them. I was a tried and true Rage guy until I saw these Toxic broadheads and all of the awesome reviews of them, so I had to have some. I shot my bear with them and I was not exactly pleased, as the bear went 350 yards. Now the shot wasn't perfect, but the blood trail was quite pitiful. I figured that the bear was more of a perfect storm of bad things happening all at once, so I decided to give the heads another try, and I was going to shoot a doe with them. Well needless to say, a big buck came by and I shot him. The shot was a bit high, but should have killed him, although it was the first deer I ever had flinch at the sound of the shot, which may have affected the outcome. Also, I'm not sure that I would have found him no matter what head I used, but through it all, the toxic just left a bad taste in my mouth
Glad the reviews are starting to come in on this head. Will be interesting to hear more about bone hits and all like this one.
I agree I wanted to try them but until the reveiws on dead deer start coming in ill stick with my rages!
Why do people switch to different broad heads when a new one comes out anyway? If you've been using a certain broad head that is working for you then why change? I've been shooting nap spitfires for the last 12 yrs and they have never failed me. I've misplaced a few shots, but the broad heads has performed flawlessly over this time. No matter what the hype is over some new broad head it doesn't make sense to change. If your head works for you then stick with it. I'll be shooting spitfires as long as they make them or I have a problem, but 12 yrs is a pretty good run so far.
Same reason some people get a new phone every year. Or a new car every 3 years. 1. Hope of improvement 2. Feel like a change
I have shot 3 different broadheads in 24 years for deer hunting. This would be the 4th. the first was a fixed blade, would still be using them but the quality them went to the crapper. The next 2 are machanical. The second one they quit making and the 3rd one the blades started opening up in flight. Im been looking for a new fixed blade head. I liked how they looked and was giving it a try. Just thought i let people know what i thought on the heads and see what other people thought on them. This is why i switch.
