WI season opened Saturday and I saw 31 does and fawns. Pretty warm so I did not shoot anything and quite a few of the fawns were still nursing. The bucks will be around in a month or so. Its like this every year for me.

Last night I took a good friend of mine who is starting chemo (fighting liver cancer at 46 years old) again Wednesday. It was a goal for me to get him to shoot a deer before he went back on the poison. His season may be over because he gets very sick from the chemo. All things considered this is now a successful season for me.

Way to go, man! I'll be out in my stand early tomorrow before class, hopefully I can get us some more early points.

I got my final two stands hung this evening and I got my lanes cut and ready to go. Food plots looking amazing! The deer have slowly been picking around the outside of my Soy Beans which are currently protected by the Plot Saver, they've stayed out for the most part. If I can keep them out for another week I am going to be in great shape. They have podded and I am going to have a nice stand of beans to hunt over come Oct. 1. I will take the PS down a few days before the season opens and see how it goes for me!

That all said - it's been my worst year ever for bucks on camera. I haven't had anything even close to a shooter on camera yet this year. Not sure what the heck is going on - usually I get on a few deer just passing through, not this year. Hopefully once the crops are out in surrounding fields I will start seeing some bucks.

Hey titan, I was just looking at the scorecard, and I'm wondering if I missed where you put the time? I would hate for your hard work to not be counted. Sorry if I missed it.

Need to have the time? I didn't realize that. It doesn't look like any of the other ones have been entered either so I thought maybe that's why. It'll edit the post. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry I haven't been on much guys! Between high school and working part time, I just too busy. Hopefully that will change once season opens Saturday(28). My food plot I planted at the beginning of the month is looking great. Only have two shooters, by my standards, on camera. Biggest one probably will not make pope and young, but it is a good one for our area.

Bought a new 2014 Chevy Silverado over the phone yesterday, never been inside or driven it - got it just in time for huntin season! Going to pick it up this weekend, going to remove the plot saver from the beans and check my cameras for the last time.

As of the middle of last week still no shooter bucks which is pretty odd - but I've had some camera issues and surrounding fields usually hold bucks pretty close. Still not all that worried about it.

Have next Tuesday through Friday off work to hunt opening week - will be sitting on top of those plots pretty close the first week as they are about the only green vegetation left on the ground.

These two bucks are Kid n' Play. I have a lot of history with Kid from last year and Play is new to me this year. Kid stayed an 8 pt but put on some length to his tines. Play is a pretty tall and wide 6 pt.

Any thoughts on score for Kid? I'm going after him on Friday afternoon. He's in the front.

Hard to say. from that picture I'd guess mid 120s to mid 130s but it's tough to say - I assume your speaking of the front buck yes??

Here are two more. I'm really not good at scoring but I figure if he's 115-120 in addition to my 50 pt doe he'd be a good contest buck. Plus, he would be the biggest buck I've ever shot. [IMG][IMG]

Well don't shoot him because you think he is a good contest buck, shoot him because he is a buck you want to take. I'd say your right, he's in the 120 range - not a bad buck by any means.

Here is a link to my food plots http://forums.bowhunting.com/food-plots-habitat-improvement/50127-2013-2014-food-plot-plan-3.html - they are in great shape.

I finally had a nice buck on camera - not a great photo but a good buck. Should be a shooter 8, this was taken in the beans which are now open to all deer.
