No luck, even with the tracking dog, but I have reasonable suspicion to believe he is still alive. As I was leaving tonight after tracking, a big buck crossed the road coming from the general direction the buck was at. I didn't get up on the deer fast enough, but it appeared to favor it's front on both leaps that I saw it make. The buck very well could have been bedded in the corn all day and finally made his move tonight. For the sake of my sanity, I am going to believe he is alive, until further evidence proves otherwise

I had lots of help, but from what I gathered, it's very feasible he's still alive. I am gonna go out again tomorrow evening and just check out some of the trails heading into the corn field and see if I can find a bed in there

Well fellas I'm back from vacation. I was able to slip in the woods yesterday and had a good evening going on until a freaking helicopter kept buzzing the cutover near me and then landed. Pretty sure that blew any chance of me seeing much else. Apparently they were spraying. Bad timing!

Dang Ryan. Think you hit high shoulder? Keep after it man.

I've only hunted Saturday evening and had the big 10 pictured earlier, Nixon, at 35 yards at dark. It was too dark and not shot opportunity. I listened to him make rubs for 2 hours before he popped out. It was pretty crazy. I have a good idea where he beds, but there are very few trees any closer to him than what I'm already set up in. Hopefully I can get back up to the cabin to hunt again this weekend.

Yea, Dan, I got high in the shoulder. Thought I was low enough to catch the lungs, and with 6 inches of arrow still floating around in him, I thought he'd be there.
Treehopper brought his tracking dog and did a fantastic job with the trail, especially considering the trail was 24 hours old.

Thanks Ryan, we tried, I honestly think that deer is still alive. I hope you get a second chance.

Dean is a good dude for sure.

When I said keep after it, I meant keep hunting and not keep tracking. You did all you could and waited plenty long. If he was dead, you would have found him. Heading out again soon?

Hopefully you'll get a trail camera picture of him soon to put your mind at ease about him.

Sorry to hear you didn't find him. Those animals are tough, that's for sure. Maybe you'll get another crack at him! Get back on that horse buddy!

I seen 3 small bucks last weekend and a bunch of does. I haven't been able to get out during the week since I'm home with the kids after work & school. We'll see what the weekend brings!

Finally got the fire lit again, thanks to my dad. He called tonight to tell me two of my very favorite things: 1) Corn is being chopped on our farm 2) He saw a big buck hanging with some does as he was checkin the fields. I'll be out tomorrow after work

Good grief!! I'm beginning to think Oct 1st will never get here. Have to put up a couple more stands this Sunday, then should be good to go. Probably won't get to hunt until the first Friday of season :(
