ok, so im "sick" today and 10 minutes ago i walked in the woods behind my house where i hunt and i went to where i had set up my mock scrape. on the way there i saw the first rub i have seen all year! its very fresh because i just went back there 2 days ago! anyway while i was waiting for my pictures to load i walked probablly 35 yards to kinda a hill that overlooks a very tree coverd creek. anyway, i stood ontop of this little hill and looked out. a freakin buck started running away!!! so my question to yall is do you think he will come back during daytime hours?!?! ive never seen deer back there at this time of the day! and my other questsion is do yalll think that this buck is the one who made the rub i saw!? any feedback will help me greatly. thank you guys!
He was probably bedded up. I'd definitely not go back in there if you plan on hunting it anytime soon, if you do be sure to spray down and just check your card from your camera or maybe move your camera out of there to more of a travel area. I don't think you scared the deer away for good but its hard to say not knowing the specifics. Its still early in season so I'm guessing you'll be fine. I wouldn't sweat it.
You have a great opportunity now. You now know where the buck beds, so take note of the wind direction, find a tree that you can get to without him seeing, hearing or smelling you. Set up a stand if you don't already have one there, and sneak in and kill him some evening when the wind is out of that direction. IMO, no buck is completely nocturnal, they just don't move much in daylight. So if you can get close, he may just walk by before shooting time is over. Good luck!
I made sure to put scent killler on before i went. praying he'll be back and get infront of my cam so i can get a good look at him. thank you guys
