Heartland Outdoors :: Scattershooting :: Iowa also reporting EHD deaths Seems EHD is gaining in many Midwest states again.
Yep, I'm tired of these droughts!!! Having found one on my property already, I'm pretty concerned there could be more.
Muskegon County in Michigan has 20-25 reported cases as well. Our DNR sent it out in an email yesterday.
I'm in SE Iowa. I planted my "green" food plots about 5 weeks ago. They still look like the day I planted them, just dirt. Haven't hade a drop of rain in over a month. Re-seeding today, hopefully it's not another waste. So far no EHD on my farm, but if we don't get some rain.... I don't even want to think about it!
Luckily we have gotten some rain in the recent days... All creeks and ponds are dried up here. We need another 5 inches of rain to be normal again. Sure hope EHD doesn't come this way.
I feel for you brother the same happened to me here reseeding this weekend. No signs of EHD on the farm yet.
Thats awful....I'm glad we are over our yearly average for rain here in Tennessee. I hope it don't get worse for you all.
Last year we had dozens of EHD on our farm in West Central Iowa. This year all good. Lots of green plots and corn, but the herd took a big hit last year. Planted stuff with a buddy in Minnesota last month (Aug 1), and it just rained this week for the first time since planting. No brassicas there this fall.
I live in s.w. iowa and heard dnr is getting reports of ehd in my area doe tags have been drastically reduced this year. I was told that they might not issue any doe tags available for shotgun or muzzleloader season.
