Well, today is Ky's bow opener. When I went to wake my 11 year old son up this morning he was already awake. He's so excited that right now he's in the bathroom taking care of business. His excited belly gets his bowels excited I guess. Poor little fella always has done that right before opening morning of whatever season it is. I use to do the same thing as I'm sure many of us have. Anyway,he's about to open his first bow season ever and we're both excited and looking forward to what the morning might bring. I have high hopes but realistic expectations but good times and memories will be made. Some of you may have seen some of my waterfowl pics on the waterfowl thread so you know I like taking pics so.... you know I'm bringing a camera. Pics to follow. Good luck to all my KY brothers this morning, be safe and enjoy what God has given us one more time.
Good luck to you and your son....but enjoy it...regardless if you see your game or not learn something from nature.
I would love to already be out in the woods but I'm stuck at work....The only thing I don't like is those occasional Saturdays you have to work. Those occasional Saturdays always fall on opening day..
Thanks for all the good wishes guys. The morning went as I expected,no deer seen. Its more of an afternoon spot. But we had a blast in the stand. We laughed and giggled at each other over silly stuff and had a great time. I got to show him some of the basics of being in a tree with a bow(he's already shot 3 deer with a rifle from this stand)how to draw, how to position his feet, the shooting lanes I had cleared and why I cleared them at those spots, and why I didn't have everything cleared away. I hope some of you had better luck with the deer but I bet not many had more fun.And so it has begun... And this pic says it all.
It's great to see the young kids out and enjoying the hunt! I know I wish I would have started hunting earlier. I believe that getting the kids out of the house and in the woods is the only hope kids have now a days. This picture has made my day. Good Luck to you all this evening!
What a great picture! As long as he remembers it isn't about killing the deer but about the experience and memories that he is creating while out hunting he will be hooked for life!! Well done!
that's great!! your a great dad, the kids gonna look back on these days as his fondest memories his whole life!
Sounds like a great hunt. Today was KS youth season opener, had my daughter in the blind with the crossbow but we got skunked as well. Fantastic hunt though!
He's ruined! We saw two little 6 pointers still in velvet this evening that were to far. First time he's got to watch not one but TWO bucks.
that's awesome. Be sure to cherish these moments, because it will be over in a flash. My boy just left for a church mission, so no huntin partner for me. Man that time just flew by. Lot of pics and videos to help remember.
