First, biggest, and only so far last Nov 6, 4:50 PM. Not the hugest, but happy with it. Maybe 2 1/2 year old smaller 8 pt.
December 16, 2012. At about 10 a.m. it was a steady rain, and I was just getting ready to leave. Most bucks I see that are big are around the second week of November here. Many on trail cams about that time too.
October 15, 2011. This was opening day of the early muzzleloader season in Iowa. It started off a pretty warm fall so the deer were still somewhat in their summer feeding pattern I think, shot the deer in my avatar about an hour before dark feeding in a standing bean field.
October 26th.. I had seen the deer cross through this spot the year before, and it was the first time I had hunted this stand. I set it up in July and and waited... 160 and change
10/13/12, 7:25am First night the temp dropped into the 40s. Saw 2 shooters, but had already shot one of them when his bro came by 30 minutes later.
I've killed my top 3 bucks on October 29, October 27, and October 29. All of them were killed in the mornings between 8:00 and 9:30. Overall I have the best luck the morning following the first good cold front after October 25 and it stays good with the cool weather through November 15.
I am 15 and my biggest buck was a piebald button buck. I shot it with a .30-.30 during Nov around 7:30 in the morning.
November 17. Opening day of gun. Shot him over a tinks power scrape mock scrape. 7:10 in the morning. Also shot my bow buck with the same setup late September.
Never shot a buck due to being too small for me but I always tend to see a ton of buck movement around Halloween. I took it off this year in hopes of finding a big guy. November would be great too except slug hunters completely screw up the deer and their habits first two weekends in November.
