I have been contemplating what broadheads to get my girlfriend. I have always shot a fixed blade shot thunder heads and slick tricks ever since I started bowhunting when I was 12 and never had a problem with them. Like them both but with my girlfriend starting up bowhunting I kinda want to try a mechanical broadhead, NAP killzones. My question is with her shooting 45 lbs Matthews Passion will a mechanical deploy properly for her? Or should I just stick with slick tricks? I want to shoot the same broadhead as her so we aren't buying both.

I started out with a Muzzy 95. Perfect little broadhead. Never had any problems with Muzzy.

This is just my opinion but if there's any doubt why even use a mechanical? Just stick with a tried and true fixed blade and there's no second guessing it all. One less thing to worry about. There's my .02 :)

Agree with JoshKeller on this one, A Magnus Stinger Broadhead at that poundage is a perfect fit.

    Stick with the slick tricks.

She doesn't have to use a two blade head (I pull 40lbs and use a big 3 blade head) but she shouldn't push her luck with a energy-robbing mechanical either.

Stick with the Thunderheads or Slick Tricks. Mechanical at that low poundage it just asking for trouble.

If you have to request thoughts on whether a set up should shoot mechanicals, don't shoot them. Honest opinion from me is anything fixed from a reputable manufacturer will do, shoot walmart specials will work even. I'm a slick magnum myself.

I shot a fixed blade Magnus stinger 4 blade, and a 85 grain G5 montec when I was younger, they worked awesome. I wouldn't go with low ke mechanical or mechanical at all for such a low poundage. They just won't penetrate enought. My recommendation is you need 60 to 65 lbs to get a pass through with mechanical.

I'm not sure what broadhead would work best for your girlfriend. We do not encourage shooting people on this site.

JMHO you want her to shoot a cut-on-contact head which means a fixed blade. Might want to look at Magnus, Muzzy Phantom line, VPA's, G5 Montec's, etc..

OOPS, my bad. I read the title and thought this was a WTT thread. Sorry! BTW 85 Gr Wasp Boss heads would work well for her.

I would look at the NAP Hellrazor's. Great fixed head that fly awesome and seem to work real well with lower draw weights. Kristine will be shooting them this season.

Looks like I am going to stick with what I know works in slick tricks. I just had the urge to try something new since she is new. I like my slicks though. Thanks for the responses!
