I have a charcoal mini weber for camping and portability. Have a Brinkman 4 burner propane with side burner for my full size at home BBQs.
Idk if you guys have ever had them but I grilled up some Johnsonville Bratwurst patties last night. They are outstanding. Never knew they made bratwurst patties. Haha. Gonna do some beer brat style next weekend.
I have a natural gas grill... yeah I know its but I wrap some pecan wood in foil and place beneath the rack to provide smoke. It does a decent job but can't compare to the lingering flavor of singed eyebrows and unburned kerosene mixed in with my pork chops.
I used to use an old rim from a car with a grate that fit perfectly in it. I would simply set it on top of the hot coals while camping and give it about 20-30 minutes to heat up. For brewing coffee or frying, I would remove the grate and sit the pot or the pan in the center of the rim.
I have a Kingsford Barrell style grill and Love it. Almost got the Meber but for my apartment the barrel works better. it is only about 24" long. Picked it up at Academy for $60.
I only use lump charcoal (real wood) in my kamado grill. Great flavor and you can literally choke the fire out when done and reuse the left over charcoal. Awesome to be able to sear steaks at 600° and then reuse charcoal. sent from my samsung note 2
Currently using a homemade charcoal grill passed down form my father in law. Works pretty good, but I'm really wanting a Traeger.
Quick google search, im guessing its about 30% more expensive for lump charcoal? Does it last longer? How much was your grill? Im seeing $400-$800. Kinda an eye popper when I paid $30 for my cheap grill
Oh my, so my $30 one grills just fine. Is yours anymore "efficient" I guess? Im looking to spend a couple hundred but wasn't looking to spend in the thousand. Just trying to find ways to mathematically to justify buying a more expensive grill. Whether it be in Charcoal efficiency or something else.
