Spent the last 10 days out in Southern California visiting my Mom and a few friends. I guess I'm not much of a desert person... go figure. It was 97* for a few days, Yuck! Highlights: Joshua Tree NP seeing a ton of high end cars flying in a military flight simulator (my buddy is a pilot)! visiting with friends sushi and other good food Lowlights: Mom's crazy driving the heat people everywhere the cost of everything missing out on a 8" snowstorm and my dad getting stuck taking the icehouse off the lake Glad we went, but I have no desire to go back. It's good to be home again!
We were primarily in Palm Desert (near Palm Springs) and then spent a couple days in Carlsbad (N. of San Diego).
I used to be stationed in that area. Just be glad it was as cool as it was. I remember trying to sleep in 105 temps. Welcome back. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. We used to spend alot of time at 29 Palms training, where it does get pretty hot. But it can also get real cold with massive swings in temp. Used to go out in Carlsbad/Oceanside area alot boozing. Do not miss Cali, but do miss some of the good times I had with friends.
Me and 97 do not get along well. Be glad you visited in the winter. Come July and August it'll be really hot there. LOL Every year my wife wanted to take our vacation South.... always in the summer. One year I proclaimed our vacation wasn't going to be spent visiting her South Georgia family. I told her we'd go there for Xmas, holloween or whatever. I wanted to go north to cooler climates. We spent a few days in NY City doing plays and food. Then we drove to Bar Harbor, Maine for a week of lobster and cool ocean breezes. It didn't hurt that LL Bean was on the way. LOL Best vacation we ever had... and that includes an Alaskan cruise for a week and a week inland touring.
