Yeah, I'm definitely going to be getting one of the 2014's when they come out! I love how the extended cabs have real doors now. Hopefully mine will look something like this.
Just got a new F150 Lariat about three weeks ago. I am putting a 2.5" leveling kit on the front and likely some bigger tires. I cant believe how much room this truck has in the back seat area. I love how the rear seats fold up also. I also got the old man step that is built into the rear tailgate and have already used it a couple of times. Had the box sprayed with Line-X.
That truck will look awesome with a leveling kit and 33s or 34s! Will you have to get longer shocks up front with a 2.5" level? I went 2" on my 97 GMC, and that was maxed out on the shock travel. Just wondering.
I'm guessing he will have to switch. Or risk bottoming out, often. Not quote the same, but I know if I max the t bars on my ranger I'm am about at the end of travel. On my 79 bronco I swapped f350 coils up front for about 2" of lift and was fine. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Honestly, I am not sure yet. I am having the dealer do it and told them to do whatever they need to do to make it right and not void any warranty. They already have the kit and I just need to schedule an appointment to get it in. I went with the 2.5" lift because I think anything more risks making it look like a tail dragger. I really liked my '05 Chevy but this truck rides like a dream and has a super quiet cab. Also, the 2.5" lift changes quality of ride very little from what I have researched. Not sure yet about what I am doing with wheels and tires. I had an option of ordering 20's on it, but went with 18's. I may still end up with some custom 20's. Just not sure. My wife is rolling 20's on her SUV so I hate to be outdone!:p
I am thinking about taking the 4x4 graphics off the box sides to give it a cleaner look. Anyone that has done it or has thoughts on how it might look????
I'd leave the graphics. One of my favorite looks on new trucks is stock wheels with big knobby tires. The 18's on your truck would look good with some Nitto Trail Grapplers. Also, why didn't you decide to go with the Ecoboost turbo?
Personally, I love the clean, debadged look. I did it to my truck, and I'm glad I did. I took the pinstripes off, badges, and the plastic trim pieces. I'll post up some pics when I'm done driving and can take some. Any ideas on what tires you're going to run? I have Goodyear Duratracs, and they will go through about anything.
I'm doing a 1.5" leveling kit on mine sometime this year and also looking at bigger tires as well. The stock rubber blows IMO. Just not sure what do do yet - there aren't a lot of good options out there for the 18" rims, and I have the same ones you do. What motor do you have in yours - 5.0?
I did go with the good old V8. Fuel economy was not really a concern and the dealer thought I would be a little happier with it pulling my 30' camper and tractor on a carhauler. I also love the throaty sound you get from the old school motor. The ecoboost was also new enough technology that I was a little nervous about giving it a try until it has been around a little longer. I do know some guys that got it and seem to really like it. Maybe next time... I have looked at the Nitto's and will have to check out the Duratracs. I agree Justin, the factory tires blow and the options are limited. That is the main reason I did not go with 20's as they were all low profile tires. I have even considered going down to 17's and putting on Raptor wheels and tires. I have found a couple sets of takeoffs that I think would look good. Anyone think that would be a decent option?
It definitely took me a while to get used to the V6 sound of the Ecoboost, but once you get over that it's a blast to drive. MPG's aren't much better than than the 5.0 so you're not saving much there. 10K on mine and it runs like a top so far. I'm fighting the urge to get a programmer for it. :D If I could get any money for my stock rims I'd pull them off and sell them, but from what I've seen you're lucky to get $200 for the set of 4. So most likely I'll keep mine and end up putting a set of Nittos on them. That's the direction I'm leaning anways. I do like the Raptor wheels though.
Glad to hear you like the ecoboost as I would assume it will be the only option by the time I trade again in two or three years. Be sure to post up a picture when you throw the Nittos on those 18's. I may end up doing the same thing. Right now I am just having fun looking around for options.
That ecoboost engine is the technology of the future as far as cars and trucks go.....the thing is bullet proof...the testing Ford did on it had unbelievable results.....efficient and tough....unbelievable torque and power out of a v6....look for others to start using the same technology in the near future Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
