I'm also shopping for an upper. I have orders in at model1sales.com and midwayusa. Model 1 is on backorder with no eta. Midwayusa has moved all their ar stuff to out of stock no backorder. My upper from them was suppose to ship yesterday, they didn't get the stock they expected so now it may be as late as May for that item to ship. Since prior to Christmas I was able to pick up a few milspec metal mags and a lower with lpk. Both at normal pricing. I'm not worried about stocking up on lowers, I'm just trying to get a full rifle built. For upper, I'm looking for a3 frame with 16" chrome moly barrel. Style of barrel etc isn't important.
Don't forget AR's won't be the only guns to go if some of these new laws get passes, AK's are always worth a look...just saying.
This is for an sks not an AR, but i was able to order 3 20rd mags from cabelas and they arrived at the store within a month. I have a chinese sks i bought at the mall in 1993 for 109 bucks. I had it converted with a tapco folding stock and upper and also added a scope. I had 2 30rd mags for it already.
I have actually managed to pick up quite a few AR accessories on amazon over the past couple weeks. I was surprised.

Anyone order any .223 through Cabelas lately? I ordered some last week and was back ordered until 1/27. Just received an email and called saying it was cancelled. Called them and they said that the factory was out and suspended all orders for the season?? I didn't realize ammo was seasonal like that. Am I missing something or was I put on a list?
It's seasonal because people are buying it in mass. And blowing out months worth of stock in minutes.

I was just at cabelas and they had a boat load of federal 223 rounds for 14.99 a box. They also had alot of windham weaponry ar15 in 223 and 5.56. The 223 were 899 and the 556 was 1099.
I just got the go ahead from my wife to buy the ar15. So after we go skiing for a few hours I am going to head back to cabelas and grab one of the windham weaponry in 223 and probably slap a decent scope on it as well while I am there. In exchange I have to sell my SKS.
