Stealthiness. I like being in the woods and the animals don't know I'm there until I let the air out of something.:d
Persistance. I made a poor shot on a nice 8 point during my first ever bowhunt (8am opening morning). I waited about an hour then climbed down and went home. Went back about 6 hours later and walked for 6 hours. Next day I walked almost all day I think. Finally found him. Not trying to brag, but alot of guys would have quit looking and decided to save their tag. I wanted to find him and persistance paid off:
Im still very rough on all fronts. I wouldn't be able to say im good at anything in particular. Maybe trail cams, but thats not important.
englum_06, I want to congratulate you on your persistence in finding that buck. We have found a couple dozen deer over the years with that kind of persistence. Unfortunately I rarely meet someone that is willing to search that hard for a deer. If you carry that persistence into your hunting you should do well. Nice first buck by the way. As for me... It is also Persistence, or more accuratly, my obssesive compulsive behavior.
Thanks alot man! It was definitely very frustrating and not easy by any means- I felt sick the whole time I was looking for him, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally found him. I learned alot while looking for him also.
Sitting still while on stand.I only sit for about 4 hours at a time, but I sit really still eye movement head movement, real slowly.
I tell myself it's my ability to read sign, but it's probably persistance ... sometimes I'm too dumb to quit.
