New to the site and have a question about bow hunting public land around Sullivan IL...Myself and a few hunting buddies are looking into going out to Sullivan IL to hunt in Shelby and Moultrie counties...We are looking to hunt public land and we are looking at going either October 26th thru November 2nd OR November 2nd thru November 9th...Could anyone that is familiar with this area give us an idea as to some locations that are better than others (without you giving up your hunting spots) and possible cabin rentals or locations to stay?...I have one buddy who has gone out to this area once before and few years back but cannot remember much about it...Any information would be great...Thanks.

Chewck out the state land around Lake shelbyville.
Also the state park there offers cabin rental but i am not sure how late in the fall they are available.
You should be able to find info on the IDNR website

There is also private cabins just outside lithia springs which is on the far south end of the lake just outside shelbyville. Might check those out for a place to stay.

Don't know about the area, but if given a choice I'd opt for Nov 2-9.

I hunt around Lake Shelbyville a lot. Have for a long time to. Inbox me and I can give you specific info on areas that I like to hunt and where you can avoid crowds. There is a TON of public land around there and your options are almost endless.

I don't know anything about that area. I would say Nov.2-9 I'll be hunting west central IL. that week.

Very far south end of the lake had lithia resort. Go to www.lithiaresort.com to check it out. I don't know if they are open during bow season but its worth a shot. I've stayed there before we got a houseboat at the marina. Good luck.

I emailed them about their cabins...I see that they close some of them the week before we are planning on going out so I'm waiting to see if they would possibly stay open one week later...Thanks for the link
