Hunted this guy in Southwest Nebraska. Had an encounter with him end of November when I doe bleated him into about 40 yards. He ended up getting suspicious and took off. Checked my trail cam later and had this picture of him. Went back out last week to try to hunt the pre-blizzard movement (12/19/2012). He came out with two 1.5 year old bucks. Made the shot at about 5 feet from my stand directly underneath me. He piled up 40 yards from me. This is my 2nd year bowhunting (3rd year hunting in general) and only my 2nd buck ever. Welcome any ideas on age and score?
That's a good deer. I would say he is four years old and maybe scores 125. Either way that's a great buck so congrats!
Thanks guys. I was actually out hunting by myself so I had to take the pictures with a tripod and timer function. I ended up getting stuck in the blizzard on my way back home when they shut the interstate down. Life isn't too bad in a hotel room in the middle of Nebraska when you've had a successful hunt!
I am no expert and this is based entirely of of articles I read on aging deer as well as photos I've seen of deer. But to me he looks 3.5-4.5 and in the low to mid 130's
This is one of the coolest trail camera pictures I have ever seen. It is like he is posing. For half a second I thought it was a picture of the head mount. Great buck, congrats
I couldn't believe the trail cam pic either when I checked it. He only showed up one time on camera the entire season. The morning I arrowed him, he was was walking behind the camera by 20 yards. Here's the next picture in the series.
