I believe my brother and I hit Iowa just right this year for we were seeing shooter bucks right from the get go. In fact, we jumped a giant just trying to get in and hang our stands before our first evening hunt. After getting winded the first morning by a nice shooter, the winds started dying down day two and three and I was getting close to getting a shot off on some really nice deer. I did fill my doe tag actually on the second evening hunt, so that was a bonus. Day four was slow until around 3pm when I saw this big guy coming from around the front of a ridge that drops down to my south. He started going up the ridge in a direction that would have taken him away form me, so I quick let out a grunt call, but pointed it to my north, behind me since he was fairly close already. He looked and did a 180 and walked right in to about 8 yards, where I stopped him and sent my CX Maxima through his vitals. Didn't run far and fell while walking slowly away. Best part is I captured both hunts on film, while self filming my hunts. Footage was pretty darn nice! What some memories made here! This 11 pt is my best buck to date and heaviest :D My bro also shot a buck the same day, a nice 9 pt. We had our work cut out for us that evening getting both bucks out. That is perfectly ok though. Both tagged out this year in Iowa, and on public land to boot! Can't beat that I guess. For those interested, we shot our bucks on Nov. 14.
what a cool picture... with out the story, that smile says it all!!! Congrats man, one heck of a buck!
