Well ladies and gentleman, here he is. My first deer I've ever killed, and I love him. A beautiful 8 that scored 145. His right G2 is just over 12" long. Needless to say I am incredibly proud! And you won't believe the story that goes with it...I'll try and be brief, but I have to share it...I still can't believe how close together it all happened. 6:00am - Got settled in to my stand 7:00 - Here comes 4 doe down the hill facing me into some thicket. They are just eating and chillin when one breaks from the group and comes 30 yards broadside from me. Release and arrow ---> too low. Miss. 7:15 - Here comes two shooter bucks and 2 does. They are chasing hard core. One buck comes to my left, 30 yards, broadside, arrow away. Hit a limb 20 yards away that I didn't see at all!!! Miss. 7:30 - The second buck finally comes out of the field from chasing and gives me a 40 yard broadshot shot. Arrow away. Skim a tree branch and it sails over him. I'M OUT OF BROADHEADS!!!! 7:40 - After the deer clear out I climb out of my tree, go get my arrows and get back into stand. Only one (NAP Killzone) was able to be put back into place for a possible round 4. 7:50 - Here comes the same buck I missed the first time chasing a doe. The doe breaks up a hill to my right about 50 yards but the buck doesn't follow, instead he comes towards me then turns a bit to face her...he is mostly broadside but quartering away a bit at 25 yards, no treelimbs in sight! And I drill him! Ran about 100 yards up the hill in front of me and we found him there. 4 shots, 1 deer, and an amazing story to go with it!
wow thats a crazy story, you where ment to kill that deer i guess but congrats on he is a beautiful buck and a heck of a first ever deer
Congrats on your first! You'll look back on this hunt and realize just how very lucky you were. One miss, two branches, somehow didn't spook any deer and still managed to drop a big buck. Enjoy it!
Have to say....never heard a story that good! I bet from now on you will carry 5 arrows lol! Great kill, one you will remember forever!
Ha any colorful language expressed during that time period? Great job shows that if you stay with it something good will happen
Gorgeous buck! Missing branches and other obstruction dues to "big buck tunnel vision", happens to us all. Congrats on an incredible experience and your first buck!
Haha, thanks everyone. And yes there may have been a word or two come out I'm not proud of...but in the end it all worked out, and it's a lot more entertaining than "sat in stand, buck came in, shot and dropped him".
Congrats!! Heck of a first deer. At least you didn't have to suffer too much boredom. Sounds like an exciting day all around
