    You can make it yourself in the overn just hang the meat from the trays with tooth picks. takes about 4 too 5 hrs and comes out just as good :)

    Most ovens will cook the meat ... if your oven doesn't go down to 170 degrees, that is...

    Maybe I'll just buy a smoker, gives me a reason to spend the day outside drinking beers... while I'm at it I'll make a nice bon fire and invite some friends over...maybe grill up some back straps...now all I need is a deer on the ground haha.

    :lol: I hear ya man. Seasons only been open for 11 days but I feel like it's been forever and I should be tagged out by now! Then I remember I am in MASS and just seeing deer should count for something. :bash:

    You will be surprised how much of the deer you can slice up for jerky ..

    We use all the meat that isnt "prime" cuts for jerky. Im gonna use your recipe then smoke it.

    Im sure it wont disapoint.

    Caleb, please report back with doing it in the smoker .... my bro has a nice smoker and took two doe yesterday and we will be making some in his. I believe that will be the only way to improve it .... can't wait :)

    You guys just made me pull out a package from the freezer that already has a 3 day marinate on it before it was frozen ... gonna dry some in the dehydrator tomorrow :D

    I think a remeasure is needed on the biggest buck contest, i think Fletch shorted himself atleast 6/8 of an inch, putting me in the lead for some of that jerky.

    Didn't read all of the posts so maybe its been asked. I shoot burger through a jerky gun. Should I follow the same recipe-directions?

    I just started using the smoker for jerky. It's wooonnnnddderful! Adds a whole other dimension of flavor.
