Since it's getting frigid cold down here in my part of Georgia, I've always heard that when it starts to get very cold it's time for the post rut. Now, I've never had to much luck in the post rut but I'm thinking of sitting in a tripod stand overlooking a road on one side and a heavily used food plot during pre and peak times of the rut on the other side, also hanging doe urine scent bombs and using my doe bleat instead of mature buck grunt. If this is a good tactic let me know or if anyone has a successful tactic feel free to post them. I also think maybe our peak rut came early this year because the deer have calmed way down and are not nearly moving as much we saw massive movement in the deer at the very beginning of the gun season which was early October.
