Went out for the first time bow hunting. Shot at a doe in the morning and hit her low. Tracked her and never found or jumped her. Never found, maybe next time I will get you. Then went back out that night and got a nice shot on a buck. Shot him perfect double lung. Tracked him for about 40 min then lost blood trail and it got too dark. Came back out the next morning and searched high and low. Finally found him about 350 yards from the shoot sight. Crazy! He bleed out internally. Well not bad for my first deer. Here are some pics.
Specs: weight 215 lbs, 10 point non typical with drop tine (you cant see it in the last pic because it dropped below trailer.)
Congrats, I dont know if i would call that a droptine or not, But either way thats one heck of a first buck.
Nice buck! I would not say that is a drop tine, just a G2 that formed a bit weird. Either way, great job!
Nice buck, that's for sure! Congrats! I can only hope my first is a nice one like that! I know we all have choices that we as hunters have to make. As a first-timer myself who's trying to learn as much as I can, this forum has been a great tool for me in that regard. At the risk of raining on this threads parade, at this point in my hunting pursuits I think I would have a hard time nocking another arrow knowing somewhere out there is a deer I shot earlier that same day that has not yet been recovered. I guess what I'm asking is what is a reasonable amount of time or effort we should spend on recovering a deer before we go back up into the tree with the intent of shooting another? Perhaps this is an individual decision we must all make on our own, just wondering what others thoughts are on this.
