    i'm sure most if not all people on this site would have done the same thing.

    Nice try but that deer would not have survived. I had a similar situation a couple of summers ago. My son in law and I were were out fooling with the cameras and we kept hearing this crying sound. We investigated and found a fawn that had tried to jump a wire fence. The top strand caught it's hind leg and just kind of rolled onto the second strand, trapping the fawn by it's hind leg. We went over and took the weight off the fence and set it free. It didn't seem to much worse for wear but if it had kept up that bawling it most certainly would have attracted the attention of the local coyote population pretty quick.

    Never like to see that but unfortunately, its a fact of life for deer. Sometimes "it happens". Glad you guys could put him down quickly and end the suffering.
