Usually 5 no less than 3. I like to carry a couple extra incase a squirrel temps me or some other critter.
My quiver holds four, and I bring four broadheads. Might have to start bringing a Judo point though. Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
I take 3 arrows with broadheads and nockturnals in my quiver, and I have 3 arrows in my bow case with field tips and an extra pack of broadheads also in my truck.
i take 4, 3 broadheads and a field tip for squirrels and what not.. But i would not be affraid of walking into the woods with 1 thats all i need
I carry 4... 2 with rage and 2 with g5 montec which i can use for deer but bring them for critter cutters!
I carry 3 arrows, all tipped with broadheads. Im in the woods this time of year to hunt mature whitetails. whacking squirrels, rabbits, and crows with judo tips while trying to hunt deer seems a little bit silly to me.
This is a great topic and one that I have been struggling with for the last year. Last year we introduced a new product at the ATA trade show called the Double Barrel Arrow Loader which allows you to take a second shot very quickly and with little motion. I get a LOT of feedback telling me that archery is about 1 shot - 1 kill. And that if i spent more time practicing I would not have to worry about a second shot. That is when I ask myself "If that is true, why does everyone carry so many arrows?" I can understand carrying an arrow with a different point for a small game opportunity but if I am hunting deer and I am a practiced archer, why would I need to carry more than one broadhead? Assuming of course that I can only take one deer. I would like to know how often bowhunters actually use more than one arrow for deer hunting and why?
I have used a second arrow on four deer. Three times to finish off the deer and once I actually got a second shot at a deer that spooked only 30 yards on the first shot. I have needed multiple arrows several times. Usually because I shot at something other than a deer and later had an opportunity at a deer later on the same hunt. I guess I have only once had a need for a very quick second shot where I didn't have the time to nock #2. That was on a yote.
2 or 3 broadheads for deer(depending if I resharpenned yet after last kill), 1 for turkey(sometimes), 1 small game blunt....so usually 4 total in the quiver(holds 6).
Since we have the chance to kill turkey & deer with a bow, I generally take a total of 5 arrows/broad heads. I have my 3 best, and brand new ones for deer, then the remaining three are for coons, turkey, or yotes that may stumble past my stand. They have all pretty much been shot a stuff before and aren't brand new and sharp anymore.
