First deer was an 8pt buck with a shotgun. First deer with a bow was a doe. Blessings.....Pastorjim Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
A buck. Looked like 4 pt from 40 yards. Took the shot found him 60 yards from where I shot him with 1 pt! First thing I said (outloud) "Its a friggen Unicorn!!". It was a big 4 but one antler was broken off and the other had a tine busted leaving just the main. Must have gotten busted up by a bigger buck or something.
My first deer ever with a bow was a fat doe. My first buck ever was a 153" 10 point that same year. I'm proud to say I've never killed a deer with a gun. I'm officially an archery addict from the first time I let an arrow fly.
My first deer was with a bow on my second hunt. It was a six point. My first morning a big eight walked trough within easy shooting range and I drew back three times on him but all three times it was just a little too dark so I passed on him hoping to see him again. I have had a couple close calls with some big bucks since then and they all got my heart pounding but none as much as that first one.
I didn't kill anything my first two seasons. In fact I don't think I saw a deer my second season. During my third season I shot two bucks in one day on the gun season opener. The first buck I shot at sun-up was a 3 pointer and the second buck I shot at sundown was a 5 pointer.
1st time for Gun Season.... Nice thick beamed 9 pointer that was running down the fire lane I was standing on. He was heading right at me, so it was him or me. Another hunter kicked him up and I was on his escape path. 1st time for Bow Season... A great tasting big doe. I have had a few bucks since then, yet mainly a meat hunter so the does are the ones I prefer. Plus with where I hunt, the landowners know I am mainly hunting for does (meat hunter) and I have let quite a few nice bucks pass by because the landowners sometimes let me know which bucks they want a chance at for gun season. Late season I usually have no restrictions though.
I shot the first deer that came past my stand, it was a button buck. 30 seconds after that, a spike walked up and I shot him too.... I was 12 and so excited that I couldn't get out of the tree because I was shaking so bad!!!
My first deer ever was a 70 lbs doe with a rifle. A few years (last year) I shot the first deer that walked by with my bow which was a spike horn. I took shots at does over the years but never connected till last season.
I have taken 6 deer in 4yrs of hunting: 2011-2012: 2 does and a buck 2010-2011: Skunked 2009-2010: 1 doe and a buck 2008-2009: My first Deer, a doe!
