I had a meeting with a Game Warden about a hunters safety course we are giving at a youth center and he said deer deaths in several counties in Illinois including calhoun and pike are around 80-90% death in the herd, but yet the big wigs in springfield and all the outfitters up there are lying there asses off, WHY????? Everyone will find out once they get up there!!!! So that being said, my season is kinda up in the air..... Good Luck to everyone who is hunting....

That really stinks man! I feel for you for sure. I have mentioned this before, but we had a bad case in 2010 around my county. Lots of dead deer and the herd is still recovering to this day. I don't see nearly the numbers when I hunt now and I do not to take does off my properties there. I have some other properties that I look for does on that were not affected by EHD that year.

I hunted this morning and wathced a little spike for about 30 minutes in the bean field 100 yards from me. Thats all I saw, but god was it a beautiful morning. 37 degrees and an awesome sunrise was worth it just for that alone. I also passed a doe with a fawn on Monday evening. They both walked 10 yards from me. I just couldn't do it though, the fawn was still full of spots and was just following momma everywhere through the woods. I guess I'm a softy when it comes to that. I would rather watch them.

Well headed over to the missouri farm today for a few days and will see what happens there, as far as I know the deer in that area are not affected and the area around my house hasnt been affected so with 20 food plots in around my house I hope to connect Oct 1st on a doe at least. dont harvest does on the missouri farm...

I've been out only a couple of evenings. Passed on a doe fawn pair the first evening. Fawn was still to tight with momma. Last night had four does come out and just couldn't get a good shot. Drew twice just no shot, and once caught up on the damn teather from harness. I finally started wearing one and it screwed me the first night I wore it. Oh well, home safe is the main thing. I'll be out tonight in the 30 mph winds.
