I am curious to know what you guys think about this buck. I am torn on whether I should let him walk another year and hope the neighbors do the same, or shoot him and put him on my wall. He seems to have the "Monster" gene and has major potential.

    1) Shoot or pass?
    2) What would you gross score him? (typical)

All depends on your property ? how much land do you control ? do your neighbors practice QDM ? Wher does he rate as far as top end for your area ?. I you have 100++ acres and all your neighbors will pass that deer than yes i would let him walk.I thats high end for your area and the neighbor will kill him .Stick'em............I would agree in the 120's

1: Not up to anyone but you.
    2: I'd go as high as 130's (low 130's)

He looks tasty to me. He would be hard to pass for most, but its all up to you.

Thank you for the responses guys! I control only about 120 acres, and do my best to plant food plots and manage the land to hold deer. When it comes to the rut though, these guys tend to stray and yes, the neighbors will shoot ANYTHING they see....even if its not legal. This has been my main problem with managing my herd. As far as quality, I have killed a bigger buck than this off the property, and there are a couple that are just as nice or bigger. I am hoping to let him walk and hope he is smart enough to evade the neighbors, but we will see. I think he has real potential for next year!

Also depends on where you are. If that is an Ozark buck, then he's a no doubter, but if your up north in the glacial plains, then you have a little more to think about. Bucks just grow bigger in northern MO because they have better nutritional sources.

In response to some location questions, this buck is in Central Missouri....this is not a north Missouri whitetail. There are good genes running around these parts though, and bucks in the 160s do happen often if allowed to get big enough, and very rarely bucks in the 170s and 180s are killed. I haven't seen him on the hoof yet with my own eyes, but wanted to be prepared for my decision if I get the opportunity!
