Have only been shooting my bow for a couple years, but it seems my rig is louder this year than last. Haven't changed a thing. Do bows get louder over time? It's a compound, was new in 2010. Sent from my phone. Spelling was not a priority.
Is anything loose? Sight, rest, string stop, grip, quiver, stabilizer etc? Do you have silencers on your string? Sometimes they get in they way and slap against the string stop.
Try to isolate the source of the sound by holding the grip and tapping the limbs at different locations. If you can pinpoint the sound, you should be able to fic the problem.
Going out of tune can maker it louder. Maybe string has stretched or has a broken strand or just needs wax. I would check ATA brace height and cam rotation. When my bow is in spec and shooting great I always write down exact ATA, brace, nock and peep height. I also make a mark (whiteout) on the string for peep location and on the cam (if needed) for a quick reference.
This makes the most sense to me. I am confused about how to measure cam rotation though. It's a Bear Attack single cam so I'm assuming it's a non-issue? The noise that I am hearing is almost a humm or buzz, post shot. I torqued every screw and threaded accessory and all were already snug. I had it professionally tuned when I bought it and I think the poundage was cranked up. I remember now that I have dropped the poundage since then, so maybe that has taken it out of tune? Or I wonder if there was less vibration when the limbs were bolted down snug against the riser. I did a paper test today and it's tearing high, but since I'm getting 40 yd 2" groups and opener is a week away I am reluctant to mess with it.
Are you hitting in the same spot with both broad heads AND field points? Something is loose on your bow, it sounds. I don't think being out of tune would leave a residual hum. It may not be a bolt or screw issue. What accessories do you have on it? Is the bow string still hitting the string stops?
