I have never seen so many dead deer on the side of the road in the spring ... new ones everyday ...almost as bad as the first week of November. I am seeing tons alive in the fields as well .... what about you guys?
I haven't been seeing anymore then usual here. I'm guessing you have fawns getting ready to pop over there. Also sounds like your deer population Is on the come back.
I saw 20 on a evening drive the other day. About 5-6 last night. Saw a dead yearling doe on the roadside just yesterday here in Central, IL I think I have seen more than average for a spring. Seeing a bunch of young bucks with 3-4 inches of felt.
I am a truck driver in central and southern Illinois, and I see at least one new one along the road everyday. If you look at the number of deer along the road right now, you would almost think it was rut.
Just this morning the local news guy was talking about all the recent deer/auto incidents we are having and said it is like "deer season" again. Interesting. SB
LOL!! My favorite show.....my favorite episode the found some branches pile up against a tree....they claimed it was a Squatch hunting blind.... Cracks me up. SB
I work in an auto body shop...and the vehicle/deer hits are definitely up from last year at this time.
I have also noticed several in northern IL lately. Was actually driving down the road monday and saw two cops on the side of the road standing around talking and noticed they were actually near a deer laying in the lawn on the side of the road. It must have just been hit a few minutes before I arrived. When I drove past the deer I could actually see that it was still moving. Not sure why they didn't take care of that or what they were waiting for. I wanted to stop but wasnt' able to.
I drive past our property and surrounding area everyday on my way to work. We've always has quite a bit of road kill. I'm not seeing anymore than usual, maybe slightly less so far this year.
Driving back from Central IL yesterday I noticed quite a few more than normal for this year. Part of me thinks its mostly does moving around and finding spots to drop their fawns. There's usually an uptick in doe movement this time of year, but it does seem slightly higher than usual.
Anyone care to guess why and do you think it could possibly change any DNR regulations within the next few years in regards to hunting (maybe in our benefit)?
An abnormally high number of road kills here in south east Kansas as well. Thankfully I havent noticed any on the roads that border our sections!
