firefighter, I live in Zion too. My neighbor is a Lieutenant with the Beach Park firehouse. Im Navy, been stationed up here for two years, and its TOUGH finding a spot around here. I went door to door, sent out letters with follow up visits, or made phone calls to over 140 landowners in Lake, McHenry, and Kenosha County, and I only have 2 properties. One I have all to myself and the other I share with a dozen or so other guys. Best advice I can give you is to find a few decent spots within a reasonable driving distance, then plan a big rut hunt down to the typical IL hotspots. Also, youre in a business that has a pretty tight network of people. The easiest way to get new hunting spots is through talking with guys at work. Best of luck man...I know my few years in IL didnt work out how I would have liked them to, but its not impossible to be successful in this area.
How long have you been a firefighter? im going to school at parkland in champaign next year to give me a little headstart to becoming a fireman.
I have been a firefighter since 1999. The first few years where paid on call and in 2003 I became a full time firefighter. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
thats cool. im really interested in it and ive been trying to do a job shadow around here but they wont let me because of insurance issues. so that kinda sucks
Yea due to the dangerous nature of the job you probably will run into that everywhere you try. One other important thing to look in to is EMT and paramedic training. Almost every department either requires it for hire or will require it after hire. Most of the fire service nowadays is medical response. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Okay i did not know that but im glad you told me so i can look into more. because im going into fire servive tech. next year for college and i think they may have something to go along with that like EMT stuff but im not sure.
