TN is always good and not too far for you if you wanna put some hogs down. otherwise check out some outfitters and they have some hogs up north in the UP on game farms to scratch your itch this time of year. told myself i'd never hunt on one but this time of yr not much else...
Missouri is good for whitetails. I suggest it over Kansas because it's closer to the terrain you'd be used to (Heavy timber, small clearings, mountains, etc.) but if you're an adaptable hunter Kansas or Texas are good places to go. All of this assumes you're hunting whitetail.
Wisconsin! If you do your research you can hunt where there are BIG bucks and the license is over the counter and reasonable(compared to other states in the area).
Plus, he's a resident. For sheer variety of game and hunting opportunities, I would look into Wyoming.
Wisconsin is the best for whitetails in my opinion, but you can't be the western states for the variety of game they have!
I'll gladly plug Louisiana. Law's are annoying and licenses are painless. I haven't checked any record buck lists in awhile so I don't know where we stand there. Get ready for some bad humidity though, whew!
Thanks for pointing that out Dan . Ok then my next suggestion is Northern Missouri, you can still get a license over the counter, and it is not much more than your home state. I would stay as close to the Iowa border as you can.
