I'm hopping that I can get some suggestions from you guys. I'm going to be in the market for a new bow soon and my girlfriend is showing interest in getting involved in archery and hunting So when I got my Mission I was not impressed with the shop I went to so I'm looking for a good shop with good customer service here in north east IL or south east WI. I'm looking at possibly getting a Z7 extreme so a Mathews dealer would be preferred. I have checked the Mathews site but I don't know the reputation of any of the shops listed. I don't mind traveling a little to get a good experience. Thanks!
FFBH, check out Obsession Archery in Machesney Park. I have been going there for several yrs. I sent you a pm with more details. He does sell Matthews, but I think she'd be better off with a Bowtech!
Hysells archery in somers,Wi off of highway 94 and E but he does not deal mathews. Outdoorsmen in Wintrop Harbor, IL off of sheridan rd in Zion deals with mathews. Personally I would not deal with arrowsmith in Lake Geneva.
I love the dancing banana. Get her the Bowtech Heartbreaker. I'm in love. I have no suggestions for shops unless you come to NC. My only advise is get her the Heartbreaker. Please. It's bad a**.
I would definitely stay away from Arrow Smith's in Lake Geneva. Hysell's is alright but if you are willing to drive a little ways I would check out Buck Stop in West Dundee. They carry both Hoyt and Matthews. Pete has a great range so you can try everything out and will get you all setup. I used to do alll my business with Hysell's but recently switched and happy that I did.
If he is going to drive that far ferg he should just as well go up to buck rub near Milwaukee. One thing I do like over hysells is that at buck rub you can shoot the different bows that he carries.
Find a good local archery club... they will most likely have a very skilled technician who will help you get set up.
Thanks guys and gal for the suggestions! I have shot a bunch of bows and I really like the Z7x that's why I'm leaning that way. A guy at the station suggested BK3 in wind lake, WI has anyone dealt with them? Like I said before I don't mind traveling. I'm looking for a shop that wont bend me over on the initial purchase and will be helpful for any warranty work.
I have been into most of the shops in NE IL and a few in SE WI. Buckstop in West Dundee is a nice clean shop. Had a buddy buy a Hoyt from them and had good service. The one for me is TAZ Archery in Woodstock. The shop is clean, organized (Something most shops fail in) and has great service. I will not take my bow to anyone else.....period!!!
Hysell's is a decent shop. Would be even better if thy had an indoor range and ventilation. The cigarette smoke is mighty thick in there... I've had horrible experiences at Outdoorsman and Arrowsmiths. Made the drive to Buck Rub for arrows that they said were in stock over the phone, then I gathers to buy them and the owner tells me that they've never carried those shafts. A little disappointing. TAZ is best shop around! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for all the input. I went and checked out BK3 in wind lake WI and I have to say I like the place. The owner was very cool and knowledgeable about the bows. And ladies as far as a bow for the girlfriend she will try out archery with my mission UX2 just to see if she likes it then we will see about buying her one.
Never been to that shop before Peak. Maybe need to find a day that we can take a run up and check it out. Let me knwo what your schedule looks like after ice fishing season ends!
Pm me you can come to buck stop. I'll help you out myself. You can also look at my z7 extreme there it's for sale too. Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk
I am going to head over to Buck Stop next week Michael. I will give you a ring and let you know when. Will have to meetup. Maybe I will bring my bow and shoot for awhile if my arm is feeling better. Dealing with tendinitis right now.
