I'm going out for an all day hunt Thursday. Would you say its finally time to break out the doe n heat scents, our stick with the buck scents?
I'm thinking of using 2 drags with both scents, would you recommend such a tatic?

Yeah, back to you. I drove up to Decatur, IL this morning in the early AM. left the house at 4AM and arrived as it was getting light 6:25 AM didn't see much on the roads, but I'm hopeful that the three days of storms and rain will push the bucks into overdrive come Thursday with the cold front and sunny skies. I'm thinking about walking in with the drags and then removing them at a junction then heading towards the far North Eastern corner of the property and walking back to the junction with my drag on again, then once I hit the junction I'll continue on to my stand, on the far south Eastern corner, all the while refreshing my drags along the way.

The only issue I have is the wind is going to be blowing into the buck bedding area; however, wouldn't you want it to be when you’re using scent? Man I love the smell of deer urine in the morning.

Hey the more work I put into my hunt the more I'm disappointed when it doesn't work out. The moral of the story is why try in the first place. lol:D

plus I'm getting a little fat now a days, so the extra walking doesn't hurt so much and I wear only my base layers while walking to the stand so that I don't break much of a sweat.

I've been using drags and scent wicks for two weeks in VA, although I only hunt once a week. My experience is that it can't hurt as long as it is past approximately Oct. 25. Last Wed. I shot a small buck that was walking with the wind and ignored my scent trail.

I've never had a clear instance of them working, but I keep trying. I am waiting for the day when a big buck walks directly in following my drag line scent.
