Okay, I love my reapers but hate how dull they are in comparison to other broadheads! Are the newer Mathews ones better in the sharp category? I figured Mathews wouldn't put their name on something that wouldn't be solid!

Do you buy a pocket knife when yours gets dull?
If so....send me some stuff to sharpen!
I have seen a few deer go down with one these broadheads without sharpening and I believe a dull one would even work! Grim Reaper.
    Same arrow...same broadhead no problem!
    IMHO!

Not at all :D But to be dull out of the box in my opinion isn't right! Thing should be sharp from the get go!

The absolutely sharpest broadhead I have ever had in my 45 years of bowhunting are the G5 Strikers. The Strikers are the only G5 product I have bought and the others might be just as sharp. (?) Being an old fogey I am not a fan of mechanical broadheads.

My Grim Reapers failed me Sunday afternoon. Shot a decent 8 at 15 yards. Hit him a little back and caught a lung and the liver. I didn't get a complete pass through and the blades failed to deploy. Both entrance and exit wounds were only about the size of a quater. He still left a good blood trail. He ran about a .1 mile down the creek bed and piled up. Thank godness he ran toward the truck or it would have been a really long drag. He weighed 230 Lbs. The last 75 feet I had to hook onto him with a tow rope and pull him out with the truck. I have one broadhead left out of the pack and will be switching to blood runners or G5 T3s, or maybe back to old faithful (Rage).

They seem pretty fail proof to me, they say they can close in the deer or after a pass through due to coming to a stop so fast slames the blades shut.

Yeah they don't lock open...my father thought mine hadn't deployed either, but they will close upon exiting a deer if you don't get pass through or even when the arrow busts through the opposite side they'll whip shut.

I understand this. But I am not sure how the entrance and exit wound could lie to me. With over 2 inches of cutting diameter you would certainly think the exit wound would be larger than a quarter.

    Bro,
If you think a cheezey thin, sensitive deployment, loose pin, broadhead is faithful.
I'd love to be a coyote in your woods!
Maybe some got through quality control on the sharpness?
I think most hunters check the sharpness of their broadheads.
These blades closing after the exit of the deer also helps them keep their edge.
This design seems to me to be far more superior even than the other similar designs ie.
NAP's that deploy on an angle! Reapers straight out less resistance.
    IMHO!

How so? They are supposed to deploy when they hit something. Meaning on a pass through the may close but they will reopen on impact. Or at least that’s what they are designed to do. :D

All seriousness... I've only killed two deer with them. It's been a 50/50 experience. Take it for what it's worth!
