Wow what a rough season its been. I worked my nads off post season scouting and Shed hunting and it paid off finally. I have been seeing tons of Doe's it seems every where I go even when im just in a Bucks core area. My Buck sightings were way down this year but I dont give up easy. It has been day after day with most of my walks over a mile each on 2 different leases. My legs are wore out!! I was in a core area again this morning prepared for an all dayer but got cut way short. It was only 20 minutes after shooting light I here something behind me and see this guy making yet another scrape BUT where I had walked in. He seemed a bit nervous but was headed the right direction at first but turned around like he was leaving. Thats when Mrs Doe stepped into the picture. She was headed in the right direction at first but turned and was leaving with him staring at her. This was all inside of 30 yards but behind my tree where I couldnt shoot. I got lucky as he went into corall the Doe mode and got her turned back around. As she passed I ranged her at 32 yards. He went into the trot and I thought oh no he aint gonna stop. I gave a mah and luckly he stoped in one of my lanes. I was fighting my drawn position as a high up limb was on the edge of being in the way. I was finally able to release but when he ran I could see him pumping blood but in my mind the shot looked a bit low. I heard him fall seconds later out of my sight but he managed to get up strp into view and stand there and wobbled bad. He took several more steps now behind some pines where I couldnt see him but I thought I heard him fall. He never came out and to be safe I stayed on stand for another hour. He was dead where I last seen him. I was right, the shot was low and I honestly dont know how I did that as it felt good on release. It ended up being a dead center heart shot. I havent put tape on him yet. He is narrow as most of the Bucks in my area but he has great Mass and good tines. I Love that new Mathews,,thats 2 down so far with it and more to go!
Danno, you are the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of Deer Season. That, my friend, is another absolute slammer. Even with your pork-sausage fingers in the picture, his rack STILL looks huge! Big pat on the back, bro. You worked hard for it, so go ahead and soak it in. I raise my glass. P.S. - The face paint looks cute. When he sees these pictures, Caleb is totally gonna get the hots for you. You might want to go ahead and start the paperwork on the restraining order.
Beautiful, beautiful buck Dan... thanks for the texts.. narrow only is a few inches, you'll make that up in mass and tines... a great 10 point and well deserved. I also raise my glass. Congratulations. (next yr) ;-)
Yo Chubs, this is one of the finest trophy pictures of all time, and truly a great animal. Congrats! YA DA MAN!!!
Thanks guys, just taped him at 144 3/8 Its amazing what Mass will do cause he only had a 14 2/8 IS spread
