I am using a Primos hardwood grunter and a hands-free grunter. Both were freezing up this morning when I was in the stand, it was in the high 20s when I went to the stand this morning. What are your favorite grunters? I am trying to stay away from Primos also because of there current lawsuit. I have a bunch of Knight & Hale calls for turkey and a packrack for deer, and I'm pretty pleased with there products, but I haven't looked at what they offer yet.
I keep my grunt call inside my coat just for that reason. I'm new to this how did you put your equipment at the bottom of your post
I have the Primos Buck Roar as well. As soon as I lose it it will be replaced with a different manufactuers tube for the same reasons above. It may get left behind on purpose......
That is exactly what I do when temps get cold. Best sounding grunt to me hands down is the true talker. Sounds like a real deer. Deep clicky sound that does not resinate or sound plastic. They are not the most durable call however. At least the older black ones. I also have a Primos buck roar. It's okay, I do use it but not as realistic sounding as the true talker to me. I have a Mad "Drury Bros" Buck growl. It's good also but to easy to blow so it goes to the growl wayyyy too easy.
I have both models of the Growl. The new ones work a lot better due to the air escape on top. Sounds very good to me. And yes TruTalkers are great for sound. Semper Fi !
go to settings (next to my profile top right corner of the fourms thing), and select from settings "edit signature" just got into this too anybody know how the rankings work? like how mine says junior member and newb and all that how do you work your way up??
I will check into the tru-talker. I have heard good things about them before. I'm making a trip to cabelas tonight so we will see if I come back with something. I liked the idea of the Buck Roar, with the all in one, but not Primos. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it changes with your post count. Mine used to say noob, now it's different.
My flextone buck collector absolutely cannot handle Wisconsin cold. Not only will saliva freeze the reed, but the "soft pliable" rubber gets rock hard in the cold. I stopped bringing it In the stand.
I absolutely love the old MAD Power Punch. I've brought more bucks in with that grunt than the rest I've used combined! It's a great call but too bad they don't make it anymore. I did buy a couple backups off of Ebay a couple years back for super cheap. I'm still using my original but it's nice to know I have a couple more still in their packages
