This weekend I had a deer coming in and I kept hearing faint grunting sounds. As the deer got closer I saw it was a doe grunting as she walked in. I shot her at 15 yards and she was still grunting so I know it was her. The Saturday afternoon I have a doe and 2 fawns come in and she is also grunting. Did anyone ever hear of this? This is the first time I have ever heard a doe do this.

One year I heard doe grunting at one of my stands. I think it was the same doe who was very vocal, but this is the only time I have heard it.

I have heard does grunt before. They are usually pretty faint and quick, in my experience. This past Saturday morning several does came past me and one was grunting the whole time.

Not unusual in the least....

Doe Grunt [IMG]: Grunts are a doe's way of saying come here , also to call her fawns at feeding time . It is critical to keep the call soft as a loud grunt is too aggressive of a call.

Last week, 10 minutes after sunup I heard a distinct grunt behind me in the 20-foot tall CRP; I was about 15 yards inside more mature trees which created a breakline behind me. I took out my grunt tube and gave a couple short contact grunts in responde.

Less than a minute later, I had a doe standing at 15 yards broadside and an arrow on its way. :)

Yep, usually at their fawns. I've actually called fawns to within 10 feet of me by doing soft doe grunts.

A few years ago I was set up on a field edge during the pre-rut and heard deer grunting behind a thicket but headed my way. I stood up readied for a shot, a doe came out first on a trot with the grunting deer chasing behind I drew back and next out popped an old haggered doe. Not sure what the other doe had done to her but she was letting her have it. I was in such disbelief I didn't even get a shot off.

I hear does grunting more often than I hear bucks. Doe grunts and fawn bleats are the two most common vocalizations I hear.

I hear clicking a LOT. Would really like to find something to imitate this sound, but there doesn't seem to be a call on the market to reproduce it. Seems to me that deer use this click to communicate. Last weekend, I heard it on both sides of me when I'd use either a grunt or a snort-wheeze. However, the deer simply would not show themselves. They weren't far away at all and I could tell where the sound was coming from, just couldn't get a visual.

Pretty sure I heard a doe grunt last week, I had a fawn under me getting a drink from the pond and in the woods behind me I hear a very short grunt and some shuffling. I'm not 100% it was momma but for a moment I thought thats what it was.

I've heard more doe grunt than bucks, usually during the late season for me.

Seems like every time I've had several deer around me,there was at least one doe ( usually an ole mature doe ) doing the grunting.Heard them do the clicking back and forth to each other to.
The True talker from Hunter Specialties will make those clicks and is a great all around deer call.I've called in ever thing from fawns to mature bucks with it.
