I hope this thread finds everyones seasons going well. My season ended before it started due to a fall while preparing one of my sets on Aug.13. I suffered a compound fracture on my left leg just above the ankle and also fratured the L3 vertebra in my back by the grace of God I'm not paralyzed or worse.I'm writing this guys to say BE CAREFUL! use this as a reminder to check your own safety practices.I consider myself to be very safety conscious be here I am writing this thread.I'm not questioning your safety practices I'm just saying BE CAREFUL!! When you think you're being careful THINK about it some more.Another hunter from my state died last Friday from an 18 foot fall.I don't know the details but it does'nt matter,it's still sad someones husband or father WON'T be coming home------EVER!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!!! it only takes a split second for something to go wrong,a brief lapse in concentration and it,s OVER!!! Remind your friends and who ever else about how important tree stand safety is. Use my accident to prevent someone/anyone from experiencing this. It's been three operations and a little over two months since my accident,I walk with a walker and or crutches but I'm gonna be ok hope to walking on my own soon.Again guys BE SAFE----PLEASE and happy hunting, best of luck. Remember folks, nobody PLANS to fall out of a tree. Always be prepared for the worst and you'll never experience it.

Thanks for sharing this story SlingBlade. Heal up well.

Thank u for the reminder.I won't leave the ground without my uncomfortable industrial harness/lanyard,''yo-yo''on!!!!!
Most safety rules are written in ''BLOOD''!
    SAFETY IS ''NO''ACCIDENT!!!!!
Its not the fall that kills...its that sudden ''stop''!
    Gravity...what a fickle b**ch!!!!
