I always get a laugh out of some of the vocabulary that hunters use. Some of it are catch phrases that have been killed. Some are just ways to describe something.

One that I never understood was the term "Roman Nose." So I had to look it up. I still can say that its not something I've ever noticed on a deer.

So, what terms don't you get or think have been killed?

I guess I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but here are a few off the top of my head...hit list, set, BBD, smoked 'em, read the script, food plot, nanny, swamp donkey, horns, shooter, yearling...

I'm sure I could think of a few more.

Read the script just sounds dumb to me. Also, dirt nap, anything Ted Nugent says, and people referring to their hunting ground as "the farm" when there is not a single crop there.

    Smoked'em
    "ONLY" saw does
    "ONLY" saw a small buck
    Cull Buck

And personal pet peeve, He shot a "Dog"

Edit: I guess one thing I really hate about the hunting community these days is the lack of respect for young bucks or does. It's like they don't matter.

I get "Roman nose" and have seen it on bucks, but a few that I don't care for are shooter, pig and slob. I'm OK with monster. I saw a show where a 10 year old girl was asking her father..... "Is he a shooter!!??" Really? 10 years old? Also, when you're hunting deer who wants to shoot a pig or a slob? Monsters are kind of likeable!

I'm ok with pretty much all of the terminology, it's who is doing the talking that usually makes me chuckle.
