i quit smoking 4 years ago so in the stand doesn;t bother me. but here in this part of TN the tobacco farmers have their tobacco cut and hung in the barns and they smoke it with hickory wood to dry it out for pipe and chew so some mornings there is a fog cloud of what smells just like cigarettes. i have seen the deer close to those barns not even paying attention to it at all

I dont see how it would throw them off. A faint smell of the smoke is what they may smell. Remember, smoke is warm so it will rise. Thus crawl on the floor if your house is on fire..... My great uncle always chewed a berry or sweet flavor chew. Then he opened the can and placed it on the ground about 20 yards out. Always worked for him and it has worked for me in the past with a muzzleloader. Skoal Apple thats all im gonna say.

When I smoked,I never had any problems with deer and my first deer I ever killed I had a smoke in my mouth while I shot Him but now I have quit smoking but on calm days it's not bad because the smoke goes up.Smoke doesn't seem to bother the deer as much as you would think does it mean to do it in a ground blind I wouldn't if I still smoked in a tree sure up north we smoked all the time in a tree.

As soon as harvest/fall's work is over I am gonna try to quit. Then I'll try again on the 1st of the year. Try again in March. Try again in July. It's 4 days of hell a year but one of these times... I am going kick this nasty, disgusting habit.

Take them back and get Marlboro lights. Regular Marlboros will kill you, the horse your riding and scare all the deer away. Man they are harsh... stinky things !!

Seems like Ive seen and killed more deer during a smoke, or right after....I think its more of a curiosity for them. Sure its forigne scent but isnt that what a curiosity scent is? I dont recomend smoking to anyone especially in a stand when its dry...thats how fires start. If youre going to smoke while in a stand, be very careful.

While it probably is best not to, I have sat in a ground blind and smoked while there were 10+ deer eating on my corn pile 18 yards away, numerous times.
Probably stupid on my part, but for some unknown reason I rarely smoke in the tree during the rut...
