It's been 10 years now since our wonderful country was attacked by terrorists;cowardly individuals. So many innocent lives were lost that day, from those in the planes, to those in the World Trade Centers. Our homeland became under fire. All of us were affected by this, some more so than others. We are all so fortunate to live in this country, the greatest country. Every year around this time I get a little emotional thinking about this day, and I actually feel somewhat guilty that I don't think about it everyday. But, us as Americans, we drive on. We have to. I was a junior in high school when this happened...and two weeks after the event, I enlisted into the US ARMY, into the delayed entry program. After high school was over I went to Basic Training, and then on to AIT. Within two months of completing AIT, my request for deployment had been granted. I spent a year in Iraq, and a year in Afghanistan. I can tell you right now, every soldier over there knew exactly what they were fighting for. I personally lost two battle buddies while in Afghanistan, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten. It's unfortunate that we sometimes take the little things for granted. I remember being there and just hoping my latest Bowhunting magazine would arrive. And man I was getting all of them (thanks to my fiancee, mother, and father). There's fellow hunters over there right now that are just thinking of what big bruiser is walking around their woods right now. So, hunting brothers, religious or not, as some point while your sitting in your tree-stand or ground-blind this season, take the time to think of them and pray for them, along with all the families of lost soldiers and the innocent killed in the attacks. God Bless the USA...and happy hunting!
well said! cant count how many times i think of guys over there wishing they were sitting in a stand somewhere. i hope they make it home safe... and thanks for your service Drawback! MANY THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
God bless all the families who lost their loved ones and god bless our armed forces and that they come home soon!
Thank you for your service. My feelings on the iraq war are different. Here's hoping everyone returns safe, sooner than later.
Being grateful is not something you should be on certain dates like 9/11 or Veterans Day. The men and women of the United States Armed Forces serve 24/7/365. I am proud to have done what I did, I am grateful for those who continue today and they are included in my prayers daily.
I got cold chills reading that. Thanks for your service and the majority of us do take these things for granted.
Completely agree 110%!!! There is never a minute in my day that I don't remember what it is like over there and for the ones that are still there to come home safe and the ones that don't are NEVER FORGOTTEN. Every day should be celebrated like Independence day.
Can everyone remember how our country was on September 12? Our country completely united as one. It's a shame it takes something so horrific to unite everyone like we were that day!
That day will never be forgotten. I make it a point, while working our gun counter, to shake each and every hand of a veteran that walks by. I always express my appreciation. It goes a long ways, I have made life friends and customers. This Sunday (9/11) we will have EVERY employee wearing a patriotic shirt in remembrance and offering special services for vets. I couldn't be prouder.
Well said...Never forget and always count your blessings each and every day. Thanks to all who serve and keep us safe. Ttraveler
