1 pin up to 30 yards???? OK, ever since I purchased my BuckMaster 2000 (12 years ago) I’ve only had to use 1 pin up to 40 yards. Does this mean my bow fits me perfect, or am I just that Bad ACE? I shot a 2009 bowtech today and I had to use 3 pins up to 30 yards. Does that mean I shouldn’t buy that bow and keep my old timer? Any suggestions???
Not sure what your getting at. There is not a bow made that will hit the same spot from 0-40 yards. WORD!
If you're adept at holding over your intended target by 6 inches or so, then ... Yes, you can shoot one pin out to 40 all day long.
...you are not that bad a$$ One pin to 40 won't work unless you hold your pin at a different height as Greg said.
I'm not shooting deer at 40 but I’m only dropping about 2 inches on the target. I could probably add another pin if I felt comfortable making that shot. Moreover, I can't even see without my glasses that far, so I'm not going to fling thunder sticks at a deer when they are 40 yards out. What say you; we remove “40 yards” for this scenario. I am wondering why I am able to use 1 pin at "30 yards" and be within a 1 inch diameter, if not less, while other people use multiple pins. Does this make since? I’ve been shooting a bow for about 25 years, so I am pretty accurate flinging thunder sticks. However, I always wondered why I only need one pin on this particular bow. It is a very fast bow!
There's that pesky little thing called physics again...... If your bow's single pin is zeroed at 40 yards then I suspect you will be somewhere "on the brown" from there back to zero yards. However, depending on your set up, arrow size, weight, bow speed etc... where exactly "on the brown" you will be is anyones guess. Yep you can use one pin but you will have to hold over/under as needed. Trad hunters do it all the time...with no pins.
selfbros, I have seen that you love this bow, but can't find a new set of strings for it. I actually got a 15 min lunch today so did a little research and found this topic on another site. Hopefully, I don't get kicked off of BH.com for posting another site! There is one post where it lists a link where you can get a string! Good luck! http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1043351&page=1
It could be I haven't shot it yet this year, due to the string needing replaced, so I may have my statisics wrong. MY BAD! I have started at 10 then moved to 20 then moved to 30 all the while using the same pin, I believe last year I moved to 40 and put another pin on, but I was hitting high on the target. I wasn't right on the dot with my 1 pin, but it was closer then the pin I added. RIZZO thanks for the link. I'll check it out. I am taking my bow to the local archery shop to just order a new string or trade her in. if the cost is to high.
I also shoot a buckmaster 2000. With mine I site a pin at 25 and shoot that 1 pin out to around 35. I usually have to hold under an 1" or 2" the more I get under 20yards but never really more than 2 then I hold over about 2" at 35 then I set a 50yd pin but mostly just for S&Gs. Never going to do anything but target practice from that far out. From what most people have told me these bows were 5-7 yrs ahead of their time when they came out and that except for just wanting a new bow there really aren't a whole lot of advantages to getting newer bow. I am planning on getting a new one but only because I feel I could use about 2" more of draw length and I want a shorter ATA for a little more maneuverability on stand.
I shoot 0 pins out to 20 yards so I am sure one could adapt and accurately shoot a single pin out to 40 yards.
I shoot a Martin Cougar Magnum that is about 25 years old and I shoot 2216 aluminum arrows. I use one pin out to 35 yards. I aim center mass and in close I'm high kill and at 35 yards I'm low kill. Works for me!
I am able to use one pin out to 30 yards (without aiming over/under), I'm on target at 10-30 yards with that one pin. My 40 yard pin is nearly touching the 10-30 yard pin as well.
