It looks like some of the individual strings in my draw string are coming apart/fraying. do I need to replace the whole string or should I be ok to a point?

Couple of questions...Can you post a pic of the problem area? Do you wax your string?

Yeah as Phillip said a picture would help. But generally speaking anytime my strings or cables are compromised in anyway I replace them. You can do a lot more damage than it’s worth if they give way plus it’s a safety concern.

Yes I wax my strings after almost every time I shoot or if I don't go out and shoot in a few days I put some on anyways.

Yikes! :jaw: I'm not sure I'd be shooting that. I'd be looking into replacing the string if it was me.

damn I only had the string for 2 weeks. The shop I had it done at was kind of so so. What would I need to replace it myself?

You will need a press of some kind and a new string. I can help you out if needed, but you'll need to ship it to me.

Something is wrong or was done wrong to that string. If it's 2 weeks old there's no way it just wore like that. Something cut it. Either you have a bad spot that's chaffing on it or someone got a broadhead too close to it, or someone at the shop mishandled it when it was installed. Or a pet chewed on it...

It looks right where the peep sets. Is that correct? Might have nicked it putting the peep n.

If it is at the peep then take it back to the shop because they probably put the peep in with a string separator at full draw weight and cut those strands with it. You need to take some stress off the string when splitting it so that this doesn't happen. If they were really bad they may have even used a screwdriver to split the string.

It's not where the peep sits its on the bottom half of the string. I think they mishandled it at the shop they took it into the back room to do it so I didn't get to watch them do it.
