Our season opens Saturday July 30th down here in south florida and looking at two all day hunts in tree stands.

    Smart or Dumb?

Just wondering how many of you do this or would do this?

Not sure if it's the way to get meat in the freezer or is it overkill.
I'll be hunting on 50acres with one other guy the first day but three other guys the second.

July 30? South Florida? Hunting all day? Should these be combined in the same sentence? :jaw:

Hunt when and where the deer will be, up in WI, at least where I hunt, early season, morning's are a wash, evenings are my best chance at getting a shot at something.

But if you have deer movement all day long, go for it!!!

I know. July is hot and now I'm trying to figure out the best stand location IN THE SHADE.

Our season is till Jan. 1st down here and that's why I'm asking. I know the best times are dawn and dusk but we get deers in trail cams during the afternoon at times. Just dont know if I can sit still ALL DAY LONG.

The short answer....it's a long season, don't burn out early by sitting all day in the heat. Save it for later. Hunt morning and evening during the early weeks.

I like where your heads at.

I'm thinking the same thing. Not sure I can be that still or that scent free after 4-5 hours in the July heat.

Hunt the morning for a few hours. Head in and cool off in a creek or something cold/take a nap under a shade tree. Get a good lunch and head back in the last three hours of the day.

I wouldn't burn myself out too much hunting all day early in the season. With that being said, I'd give it a try at least one day. Deer have been known to be unpredictable. :D You might just get lucky!

I would hold off until rut for an all day sit. Personally it will be mostly evening hunts and a few morning hunts for doe's Then a couple all day hunts durring the rut. Late season I will be gunning for does mostly to fill the freazer. I really want to have enough to make it through to next season.

Early season won't do you much good sitting all day, all the action will be in the morning and evening. But you can't kill em from the couch so have at it if you want.

Go for it. You can't kill deer if you're not trying. The more time you spend in the stand the better your chances. Just don't be stupid about it and pass out from heat stroke since its freaking summer still. lol

Personally, I don't hunt full days till the rut. Like many others said, I would hunt morning and evening. South Florida in the summer has got to be a little hot for a full day hunt, but the more stand time the better your chances of seeing deer are so if that's whats floats your boat go for gold.
