What Fletching do you use and do you fletch straight , offset or Helical . I started with quikspins fletched straight and then learned I could put a bit of offset on them , apart from the price of the Quikspins I was happy with everything about them , then I tried Blazer vanes and just never took to them . Then I tried feathers with right Helical twist and loved them for both Longbow and Compound , until now that is what I have stuck with , but for my compound I have gone to 4"Duravanes with slight offset . Whats the reason you use your certain fletching ????

4 Inch 4 fletch feathers helical. Reason being I go with 4 fletch, stabilizes my arrow quicker. Helps correct a bad release a tad too I believe.

I use mostly 4" left wing helical.

Left wing because I like constantly having to tighten my points back up. ;)

Im using 2' Blazers with a right helical. I think they stabilizwe fixed blade broadheads better and faster and its just what shoots better from my bow.

Same here. The only reason I use vanes is because it's so wet and brushy here that feathers don't cut it.

My Australia arra's are wearing 5" RH shield cut because it's dry over there, they've got a monster broadhead to stabilize, and they just look cool!

    Dave,
I've always used 4" helical vanes...until last year I experienced with 4" feathers. I tried feathers because they "steer" broadheads a little better and just look/feel cool - but after a season of feathers (and packing them through the dark timbers in CO) I have to say that I will keep the feathers just for my recurve. They are a little noisier than I prefer when rub up against brush, and also dislike the durability factor during wet/nasty weather.

So no I'm back to three 4" vanes with strong helical for the new BowMadness - with a dropaway rest, no worries for vane contact - and want to make sure I stabilize the Muzzy's ASAP.

I have to say I don't quite understand the rage with 2" vanes unless 1) you shoot expandables or 2) you are meticulous in tuning and get them to fly with fixed blades (Rob). But with shoot through and drop away rests - no worries about contact anymore, and I sure can't see much advantage to the small vanes until maybe you start talking 60+ yards (at which I won't be shooting any animals)...again - I'm always talking from shooting with fixed blades on.

Good Luck Dave - it's always fun to tinker - and heck, I might try some 2"ers to see what it's all about. I do enjoy the technical aspects of archery as well.

I fletch my personal arrows with 4" RW feathers. Helical with as much offset as I can get. I use a silicone spray and never have an issue because of rain.

There really is nothing that works better for fletching than mother nature. Feathers!! :)

Im thinkin of going to feathers, could I use Blazers on my practice arrows and feathers on my "hunting only" arrows? or would I have to retune for the feather arrows?

If I was you I'd do one or the other. Erases all doubt that way.
