I know a fella that runs a bow shop and he said he'll sell be any 2010 model bow in his shop at cost. He carries PSE, Quest and Darton. I was looking at buying a used bow but this seems like a good deal. He doesn't have a shooting range in the shop, he's just started the little shop, so I can't really shoot any of them. Any suggestions within the brands I should try? He only has one Quest left, not sure of the model. He was trying to get me to get me to buy the PSE Axe 6 before I left but wanted to look into the bows first. Any help?

I'd stay away from the Axe 6 as a starter bow. I won't hunt with a 6" brace height bow and have yet to shoot one that I could say I enjoyed shooting, although admittedly, I haven't shot an Axe 6. They're just generally not forgiving enough for my taste. The Quest is what caught my eye at first read.

I heard some good things about the newer Dartons, think they are the 3500 and the 2500. I have not shot them myself. I say go out and shot them all.

I would look into a Diamond BlackIce if he has one. It is a great bow.

Quest is definitely one to consider.

I agree with Kyle figure out what bows he has and go shoot them somewhere else. Then go back to him.

Saving a few dollars but paying the price of being stuck with a product you aren't happy with or can't get serviced isn't a good deal. Most bowshops have last year's models at a discount and they will let you shoot them all you want.
