I harvested my first deer/first bowkill on wednesday november 3rd. I was planning on hunting at my place after school but somebody was cutting down trees on my neighbors property so i figured the hunting wouldnt be too good. so i call up my buddy jake (Jake/OH) and ask him if i can hunt his place with him and so i go over there around 4 and we get in stands about 800 yards apart or so. im sitting in my stand, which is overlooking a cow pasture, for a couple hours then all of a sudden i see a nice 8 walking straight at me. he walks in to about 45 yards i get antsy i shoot and i skim the bottom of him leaving a nice slit in his stomach and taking off some hair. so now im just pissed off i think i blew it as i see him running away. he runs about 100 yards i bleat, he stops and comes right back!! he comes to about 40 yards i shoot again. i hit him. it was a bad shot. i hit him near his back legs and i see him running off with blood gushing out of him. i wait a half hour then me and jake start tracking. we lost the trail at one point but picked it up again a few hundred yards later at a fence crossing. by this time we see a straight blood trail right into the woods and then we go down into a creek and find him! we figured he ran a little over a mile. then we dressed him and then had to drag him all that way uphill. that was hell lol. we got him to the processor they weighed him in at 174 dressed and im getting him mounted as well. and btw my setup is a bear lights out, beman ics hunters, and muzzy mx-4 100 gr
