Hey guys i shot my first really nice buck on Oct 15 and decided to have him shoulder mounted. Any of you guys have an educated estimate on timeframes for it to be finished from experience? They told me 3 months to a year depending on gun season which didnt make much since because mine was exactly a month before gun season but idk. thnks

My cousin does all my taxi work for me. He's pretty good, and I get a great discount. This is just kind of a side job/hobby for him, and he usually gets them back to his customers by March.

Yeah, its a year usually. Some Taxi's will do it faster if your willing to pay more, but then its still like 6-9 months.

In my experience, 8 months to a year. I've had take close to a year and a half before. Depends on workload and motivation.

Depends on the taxi and how much business he does, f/t or p/t, etc. Most in my area are about a year.

I got my buck in early. The taxidermist had 14 ahead of me but no one had put down money. He will take in capes with nothing down but won't start on the work til he gets $$$. He said mine should be ready by Christmas.

I was promised 6-8 months. However, I did not get the head for over a year. The guy was very reputable also. I started calling him at 10 months and he would blow me off and say it would be another week....

Finally, after I think 14 months or so, the dude had the plums to ask me to use my head for a display at a ****'s Sporting Goods store that was going to let the guy advertise in. I really wanted the head, but I basically said what is in it for me (i.e. free mount, $100 off, ANYTHING to save a buck)? the guy would not compensate me in any way. I told him if you aren't willing to help me, I'm not willing to help you, when can I pick up the head. I had to give the guy another week and then I got it.

I would think a year is probably the norm.

My guy gets it done in about 8 months........and really I have noticed that to be the norm......anyone who us quicker around here usually sacrifices quality in a major way

I got mine to the taxi on Nov. 9, and he told me it will be done by January. He does his own tanning, and works on his deer every night :tu:
