    Why?

So, because someone comes from a family that has money and can afford to do things for their children, we hold that against them?

This is where the jealousy thing comes in. I hear a lot of people piss and moan when they hear someone had something "handed" to them and they had to work their ass off and never were able to do those things. That's jealousy.....and its lame.

Never hold someone's situation against them, just because you perceive it to be better than yours. (not talking directly about you with that statement Greg)

Bottom line, I asked people to give this young lady support- HUNTER to hunter. I really don't give a rat's ass if you feel she did this in earnest or not, or if you feel compelled or not. Butt out if you cannot do as you're asked. It's not a debate. Start a "class envy" thread if you feel wealth verses non-wealth is the way of the future. How much money was involved anyway?

Dan, take it over to the link I've provided. This little hunteress is taking a beating from the boneheads in the Boulder community. It's not right. I want her to know there are those in the overall community who support her efforts. Register and be thoughtful with your response. A pat on the back for a job well done is always a good thing. It's certainly better than allowing the future to be tossed to the wolves.

I agree with that. Anyone pissing and moaning probably is jealous.

I reckon there would have been a lot of hunters who have done it or are still trying to do it "the hard way" that if the money, time etc was there would have done the exact same thing. It does not matter if she done it in 1 year or 10, paid for it herself or had it paid for her. What matters is she did it and is a fellow hunter that is getting persicuted for doing what we all love. That alone is enough for me to sign in and give her my support and should be more then enough for every other person who calls themself a hunter.

Boy.....you'd think that would be the case.................now, wouldn't you?

We had a several-page thread in here just the other day.......with hunters against hunters (frontal shot on elk). Hunters were quick to speak out AGAINST other hunters (for doing nothing illegal). And now, those who simply choose not to say ANYTHING are the ones being persecuted. I've not heard anyone say anything negative towards the little girl's feat.

This is NOT a case of...."If you don't go sign in and post in support of her - you're against hunting". That is utterly ridiculous.

Did she do any thing illegal? Was she participating in some thing that any one of us would have done if given the opportunity? While I personally would have been completely low profile about the accomplishment knowing that there is a huge anti hunting sentiment out there and specifically so about trophy hunting.
To bring up the money part or the daddy part is petty to my way of thinking and it wreaks of judgement about what should be and shouldn't be.She did it legally, she put in the preparation and physical effort. Maybe some of you guy's shouldn't be driving a new truck or live in the house you live in? May be we should live in a socialist society where political leadership dictates how much money we can make and what we can do with it. You have got to be kidding me!

I missed the frontal shot on elk post. Enlighten me and post the link if you could please.
As for united my bad just look at me and you and we're far from it.

Jeff, that is not the case. If you do not want to say anything than don't. Nobody is being prosecuted except Sara. In this case, I and many others feel it is better to offer support than to say nothing.

As far as nothing negative, I'd say read again. Sara's feat is being diminished because, apparently, she didn't earn it and/or is spoiled. Now that's ridiculous.

I'll post a link in a few (elk post). And, as for the "united" thing. I'm 100% behind keeping your hunting pursuits legal. 100%. How I feel about you as a person has no bearing on that.

My post (though not inflammatory) was not directed at you. It was "in general".

Please quote the persecution. I missed it. I see a lot of it being thrown around, actually.

You have a 15yr old girl who does something really cool. She's not old enough to have the intelligence to know better. But, her dad HAS to be aware of public sentiment towards hunting......and especially some forms of trophy hunting. And, he STILL chooses to have her feat publicized on a grand stage.

Can you not see why someone (even a hunting supporter) might not want to support a bone-head move like that? Or, is it better to keep your mouth shut?

Is it time to recall that elk thread, yet?

I think the point is that the more people that sign in and show support shows a bigger united front against the people that are trying to deminish what she has done but more importantly it will show Sarah as a fellow hunter she has support.

Thank You! I had once seen Stan Potts shoot one on TV even after he said he would never take a frontal shot. My thought is the same if it is legal so be it and you kill your animal job well done.

Let's look at this logically (and without emotion). It's not so "cut and dried" as some would think.

A short time ago, a fellow hunter takes a questionable (to some) shot on an elk. He publicizes the shot, and receives a huge backlash in this forum for both the shot AND for publicizing it. Hunters persecuted another hunter, RE: the shot selection. Where was the “If you don’t have anything supportive to say….keep your mouth shut” crowd, then?

This week, a fellow hunter publicizes a feat that is also going to be controversial (given public sentiment on hunting). And, hunters cite “you’re not with us, if you don’t voice your support for her”.

Pardon me for not understanding the rules. Apparently, not taking a side in either instance still draws ire.

An old cowboy once told me the first thing one should do when you find your self in a hole is to quit digging.

Yet it seems we have some real ditch diggers on board today.

As for me "nothing" pretty much covers it .

MY "stand" is......I support the hunter (both the elk hunter in question, and the young lady). Period.

In the 1st scenario, I chose not to speak out, negatively. In the second, I chose not to speak out (in a publication), in support.

I support BOTH parties in their hunting pursuits. I'm 100% consistant. They did nothing wrong (in my eyes). Bravo to both of them. Could they have both been a little more discreet? Probably.

Just as I said in the elk thread, my "line of demarcation" begins and ends (nowadays) on "is it legal" (as far as taking a public stance). That may not be a popular stance. I'm OK with that, too.

I'm not arguing with you: WIll or anyone else.

Money or not the young lady doesn't deserve getting pounded on by the bunny huggers at all.

How In the hell can you compare this scenario to the scenario with the elk hunter?

I just got off the phone with Will. Always a pleasure.

I'm sending a note to the hunter, through the author of the article. I support her right to and what she did 100%. Same with the elk hunter, in question.

I think they both could have exercised a little better discretion.

I don't see any problem whatsoever with what she did. Who cares where the money came from? What she accomplished is pretty amazing for a 16 year old girl and if my daughter achieved the same success I would let it be known as well.

For those that don't care about the money thing............

You have 2 hunters. One is Bill Gates and the other is Joe Blow the plumber. Gates jet sets around the world and in 1 year takes every big game species in the world and has them mounted. Joe blow takes 35 years to accomplish the same feat.

    They're both equal right?
